Some critics say that the UK has surpassed the U.S and is leading the genre now, unfortunately the new school rappers think mumbling incoherently is a natural progression from old school American hip hop and its meaning, rawness and lyricism.
When young rappers have criticised artists such as Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G. as “boring” and “overrated”, the comments have been met with outrage. Some have stated that hip-hop cannot move forward without appreciating its past, for example, Biggie was a great rapper but he did not have “a cause.” He was about hustling, not politics, according to critics.
