It is thought the meerkat, Zara, bit the child because she was trying to protect her family, the animal got accidentally killed by the child during a school trip to a zoo in Hungary, the meerkat was pregnant when the incident happened.
Zara the meerkat was a popular attraction at the zoo in Kecskemet, Hungary.
The 12 year-old ignored warning signs and reached through a fence to try and touch the animal.
